Inside AM+A
June 6, 2019

From ditching sugar to saving bees, here are AM+A's highlights.

June?! How did it get to be June already? The first five months of 2019 have whizzed by in a flash of marathons, award nominations and client campaigns - here are some of our agency highlights from the year so far.

The healthiest AM+A ever?

We kickstarted the year by ditching sugar, simultaneously shedding some excess Christmas baggage while raising money for Cancer Research UK. The road was long and littered with trail mix, but with a little bit of willpower and copious amounts of walnuts the team celebrated the sweet taste of success. We raised a total of £643 thanks to generous donations from friends, family and clients.

And somewhere in between all the pitching and press trips our very own Britta Zeltmann found time to quietly prepare for, and then complete, the Liverpool marathon in a very respectable time of four hours and four minutes.

AM+A puts Wales Coast Path on the map as a leading walking destination

Since the beginning of the year AM+A have been at the forefront of a destination marketing campaign to position the Wales Coast Path as a leading wellness destination for 2019. The team worked tirelessly on a targeted marketing and PR campaign, including working with Ramblers Cymru to launch Wales’ biggest ever coastal walking festival.Coverage generated by AM+A for the Wales Coast Path Walking Festival, including coverage is all major national newspapers, reached an audience of over 23,059,409.

The Walking Festival launch campaign also included a group press trip, where AM+A sent The Daily Mail, The Guardian, Lonely Planet and Country Living Magazine to explore the South Wales coast ahead of the festival, with coverage generated from the trip reaching an audience of over 6,180,375. AM+A worked with Visit Britain’s Italian office to arrange a trip for two Italian influencers to explore Wales, including stops at several locations along the Wales Coast Path. Massimiliano Lazzi (88.2k Instagram followers) and Federico Graziati (49k Instagram followers) spent four days exploring Wales’ coastline including the Vale of Glamorgan and Carmarthenshire.

AM+A shortlisted for leading industry award

The team celebrated our first award nomination of the year, making the shortlist for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards 2019. AM+A have been shortlisted in the Travel, Leisure and Tourism Campaign category for our work promoting api-tourism adventures in Slovenia, as well as raising awareness for the plight of the bee worldwide. As an agency that places sustainability at the heart of everything we do, we are thrilled to get recognition for such a positive initiative.

World Bee Day celebrated one year anniversary

And speaking of bees, the 20th of May marked the one year anniversary of the first ever UN-backed World Bee Day, a campaign that saw us work closely with the Slovenian Government. Why are bees so important? One third of of the world's food population depends on bees and in recent years the UK has lost 97% of its wild meadows. Our work was part of a three-year strategic campaign utilising leading international media to act as ambassadors for sustainable api-tourism, while raising consumer awareness for the benefits of environmental tourism.

Leaders in Sustainable Business Management

AM+A’s Managing Director, Frank Marr, celebrated months of hard work by gaining a qualification in Business Sustainability Management from the Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge. Frank is now in the ideal position to spearhead the agency and make sure we’re constantly looking at ways to make our practices more sustainable, while working hard to influence positive change within the industry.

FLYBE and Paisley Campaign - Influencers descend on Food and Drink festival

In April AM+A recruited nine of the UK’s top food and drink micro influencers to promote Paisley’s annual Food and Drink Festival. We partnered with Flybe to get them between London and Scotland, and made sure that the focus was very much on the festival’s brand new vegan and vegetarian zone. With a total following of nearly 200,000 food-obsessives, our influencers created over 605,000 opportunities to see the festival, garnering over 12,000 likes and 500 comments in the process.
